Impact - Select Travel

The JHYS Impact program is designed for those players who wish to challenge themselves and develop their skills in a competitive environment during our traditional off seasons. Impact is a tryout based program that gives our most motivated players in the U11/U12 and U13/U14 age groups an introduction to a higher level of competition, and the opportunity to compete against strong opposition in the broader mountain west region. There are two Impact seasons, one in winter, and one in the summer. Players may play during one or both seasons, however, there will be a separate selection process for each season. Players should expect focused, high level training sessions with a heavy emphasis on tactical awareness and positional play.

Winter 2025:

Eligibility:

In order to be eligible to participate in JHYS Impact, players must participate in JHYS United or MLS Go. There will be U12 and U14 Impact teams for both boys and girls. For Winter 2025, U12 teams will consist of players born in 2013 and 2014, while U14 teams will consist of players born in 2011 and 2012. 

Selection:

JHYS will hold tryouts for players interested in the Impact program prior to each season. Players must register for tryouts, and will be assessed by independent evaluators. Please note there is a tryout fee of $25 to cover field and evaluator costs.

  • For the U12 teams (2013 and 2014 Birth Years), 12 players will be offered spots to travel and play in Impact events.

  • For the U14 teams (2011 and 2012 Birth Years), 15 players will be offered spots to travel and play in Impact events.

Season Dates:

Season Dates - February 11th, 2025 to March 2nd, 2025

Tryout Dates:

  • Impact U12 Boys: Thursday December 5th, and Thursday December 12th from 5:15-6:15pm at JH Indoor

  • Impact U12 Girls: Thursday December 5th, and Thursday December 12th from 5:15-6:15pm at JH Indoor

  • Impact U14 Boys: Thursday December 5th, and Thursday December 12th from 6:30-7:30pm at JH Indoor

  • Impact U14 Girls: Thursday December 5th, and Thursday December 12th from 6:30-7:30pm at JH Indoor

Practices:

Impact teams will practice two times a week during the season. Times and locations may vary based on time of year, coaches availability, etc. For Winter 2025, practice times will be the following:

  • Impact U12 Boys: Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4:15-5:45PM at JH Indoor

  • Impact U12 Girls: Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6:00-7:30PM at JH Indoor

  • Impact U14 Boys: Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7:00AM-8:30AM at JH Indoor

  • Impact U14 Girls: Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7:00AM-8:30AM at JH Indoor

Tournaments:

For Winter 2025, all Impact teams will attend Surf Cup Southwest in Las Vegas, from February 28th-March 2nd. See additional details HERE

Cost:

The Winter 2025 Impact program will cost $575. This fee covers tournament registration, coaching wages and travel expenses, and field space at JH Indoor. All players who try out will be assessed a $25 tryout fee to cover field and evaluator costs. We recognize travel sports in our region require substantial financial resources, and we strive to keep our registration costs as low as possible. Scholarship opportunities are available upon request.

Summer 2025:

Season Dates:

The Summer 2025 Impact season will run from July 8th through August 3rd.

Impact teams will practice twice a week on Tuesdays and Thursdays during the season. Specific times and locations for each team will be released as the season approaches. 

Tryouts will be held over two sessions on Monday, June 16th, and Tuesday, June 17th. Players must register for tryouts and will be assessed a $25 fee to cover field costs and assessor fees. Players are encouraged to attend both tryout sessions.

  • Impact U12 Boys: Monday June 16th, and Tuesday June 17th from 4:00-5:30pm, TCSD Fields

  • Impact U12 Girls: Monday June 16th, and Tuesday June 17th from 4:00-5:30pm, TCSD Fields

  • Impact U14 Boys: Monday June 16th, and Tuesday June 17th from 6:00-7:30pm, TCSD Fields

  • Impact U14 Girls: Monday June 16th, and Tuesday June 17th from 6:00-7:30pm, TCSD Fields
