Grassroots Program (U5 & U6) - players born 2018 & 2019
A fun skills and games based introduction to playing soccer for five & six year olds born in 2018 & 2019. This Grassroots program will allow young children to begin to cultivate a passion for the game, while developing an understanding of fair play, rules and applying themselves on the ball. Small-sided games are introduced, and physical literacy is further developed. It is a recreational style program where players will practice once per week (parents choose Tuesday or Thursday during registration) and play “small sided” style games on most Saturdays. Player/Team Requests – Due to the high amount of requests, JHYS will only accept player/team requests up to three weeks before the season begins, and cannot guarantee they will all be accommodated.

This program RELIES on parent involvement and parent coaches.
Our recreation program is fueled by a passionate network of volunteer parent-coaches. Thank you! We are grateful for the support and the commitment our volunteer coaches deliver to ensure a successful program for all involved. Note that you do not need to be an experienced coach, played soccer before, etc. We only require your passion. We will set you up with tools and resources to succeed on behalf of your parents and players. A parent coach will be given all the resources they will need to confidently coach including practice games and drills, technique information, age strategies, etc. Coaches receive a comp for their child’s participation fee in trade for their coaching.
